INTRODUCTION

We aim to attain a standard of French which will enable us to cope with everyday living in France or other French speaking countries.

We are a group of  7 or 8 people and we try to meet every fortnight on the first and third Wednesday of each month but this has been very flexible because of so many other commitments.  We meet in each other’s houses from 2-4.

We have an excellent leader in Margaret who is a very experienced French teacher and we also use the textbook ‘The French Experience’ new edition from the BBC by Marie-Therese Bougard and Daniele Bourdais.

In our meetings, we practice speaking, listening and writing down answers in response to recorded materials. Most importantly, we enjoy the company and have fun. The day on which we meet varies. Please see Diary for dates of future meetings.

ACHIEVEMENTS TO DATE

We have:

1. Formed a good, supportive, social group
2. Completed the BBC The French Experience Beginners book and moved on to the intermediate book
3. Improved confidence and ability in spoken French covering many subjects
4. Done small individual presentations on things we have done – eg holidays

6. Written poems
7. Played Monopoly and done quizzes
8. Organised French meals
9. Sung French songs
10. Made contact with a locally –based French national who has come to one of our meetings.

FORTHCOMING PLANS

We plan to:

1. Continue to improve our abilities in French
2. Do more Walk and Talk activities
3. Do more Eat and Talk activities
4. Make contact with other French nationals
5. Continue to look for more novel and interesting ways of practising and improving our French.
